We're thrilled to announce Custom Website Addresses for all of our members!
That means that all of our customers can now visit their site by going to http://username.tribalpages.com where username is your login id.
For example, in the past, if you wanted to visit the 'royal' test site, you would enter 'royal' in the User ID: box on the front page. Now, you could simply visit http://royal.tribalpages.com. You can email that URL to friends and family, post it on blogs, etc.
Here are some common questions and answers that came up during testing:
Will this site time out? Will there be a charge later?

Our intent is to provide this feature to all of our members without any trial periods, timeouts or "gotchas". We hope this will help inspire our users to take control of their family trees and explore what our Standard and Premium Sites have to offer. However, we are offering this as a free feature and intend to keep it that way.
Will my Old URLs and Bookmarks Still Work?
Yes! In fact, the new Website Addresses have been active for a short while now, and we've had little or no impact on existing URLs. To be a bit more specific, URLs of the forms:
http://tribalpages.com/tribes/royal
and
http://www2.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=royal
will continue to work as always.
What about URLs to a specific person in my tree?
Those URLs will continue to work as well. However, would ask that any URLs you pass out in the future use the new website address instead of 'www1' and 'www2' if at all possible.
Will this make my site slower/faster?
This change should not have an impact on the speed of your site: the sites are running on the same servers--only their names have changed.
Can I change my UserID
No, we're sorry, but changing your UserID is not possible at this time. We realize that we will get this request, and we will look into developing a mechanism to rename accounts. However, given the size of our database and the difficulty that type of change would cause, we cannot give an estimate on how far off that functionality will be.
How can I get Help with my New Address?
As always, you're welcome to contact our Technical Support or join your fellow members on the Technical Forum. We'll be happy to help you with your new site.
Enjoy!
