Windows XP users, we have a treat for you!
One of our recent goals has been to add ways to upload many family tree photos at a time to your TribalPages site. Sending them one at a time is downright painful -- and you haven't been shy in pointing that out!
Our first tool to help solve this problem is specific to Windows XP. We'll release a second tool soon for other operating systems, but we've just finished a great beta test (many thanks to some of our high-volume users), and we're proud to be able to release our TribalPages Publishing Wizard for Windows XP.
The Publishing Wizard allows you to:
- Select many photos, or even whole directories to upload
- Resize them all at once while sending (which we love!)
- Send all of them with one click, with a great status screen as each photo gets uploaded to your site
All of this takes place from within your normal Windows XP environment, and uses standard Microsoft wizard screens: It is really, really, easy!

To get to this great new feature, go to your normal "Send a Photo" page like you were going to send one new photo. On the right, you'll see a link that says, "Bulk Upload Options". Right now, we have only one bulk upload option released, so it will take you directly to the XP Publishing Wizard setup page.
That page has specific instructions on installing the new tool and using it -- if you have questions, please bring them to the Technical Forum, or send them via our Feedback Form.
We're thrilled with how this tool is working out so far, and we hope you enjoy using it!
We've had a few questions about the tool, so here are some FAQs:
Q: What does the program I download do? Does it install spyware or anything like that?
A: The program you download actually only installs a few entries into your Windows Registry so that the built-in XP Publishing Wizard can use TribalPages as a publishing destination. There are no programs that run after the setup is complete. In fact, the only reason an Installer is used (instead of just a registry file) is so that you can uninstall the tool through the standard Windows Add/Remove Programs tool.
Q: Is there any chance it will work on Windows 95 (or 98, ME, OS/X, etc.)?
A: No. This tool relies on the built-in Windows XP Publishing tool, and that does not exist on any prior version of the Windows Operating System. It also does not work on any non-Windows Operating system (such as Linux, OS/X, MacOS, etc.)
Q: What about Windows Vista?
A: Not Yet. Microsoft has chosen to discontinue its Publishing Wizard for Vista (*grumble*). However, they have replaced it (more or less) with the Windows Photo Gallery. Will be updating our tool to work in that environment soon -- if you regularly upload photos and would like to help test the tool on Vista, please contact us and let us know.
Q: What about all of the non-XP Users?
A: Our next tool will be usable by all operating systems. Expect it to be released shortly (no promises, but within weeks is our goal).
