Aug 2005: United States SSA Death Master File
Added a new database to our search. The Death Master File (DMF) from the Social Security Administration (SSA) contains over 65 million records of deaths that have been reported to SSA.
Aug 2005: Family View : Natural Parents
The "family view" now displays the name of a biological parent in a child box if the parent is different from the most recent spouse of the parent shown above.

Jan 2005: Power Tools : Living Persons
Make sure that your ancestors who not living are registered as "not alive" in your site. Power Tools help you lookup and fix names in your site that marked as living persons.
Jan 2005: Navigation Enhancement
We have added a new feature to make the "Ancestor" charts more informative and navigable. In the "Ancestor" view, if there are more generations that what is displayed, then an arrow (pointing right) is displayed next to that individual. Clicking on the arrow generates the view for one generation up.

Dec 2004: Printable Fan Charts
We have introduced a new feature called "Printable Charts". This is availabe in the "Tree" menu option when you browse your site. It produces high quality charts as PDF files that can be printed. Currently only 5, 7 and 9 Generation Fan charts are available.
Dec 2004: Contacts and Address Book
You can enter contact information (address,email,telephone) for names in your tree. They will be then listed in the "Addresses" page (under the "Tools" menu option) in your site.
Nov 2004: Upto seven generations in Ancestor Charts
The Ancestor chart can now display upto seven generations (127 ancestors) in one page. The previous maximum was five generations (31 ancestors). Now you have 4, 5, 6 and 7 generation charts.
Oct 2004: Connection bandwidth increased
We have increased our server connection bandwidth. The current bandwidth is 10 times more than before. This means, better response, faster photo and gedcom uploads and a much better user experience, especially for those of you with broadband connections.

    We now show how old the persons are as well as how many years couples have been married in the Events page of your website.
    Aug 2004: Color-coded Charts
    We have added color to the descendant, ancestor and relationship charts to distinguish between male and female names. We are working on providing a setting in your options to trun off color-coding or select your own color-coding schemes.
    Aug 2004: Relationship Charts
    We have released a new feature that shows relationships as charts. Check it out by selecting Tools then Relationships in your Navigation menu. We have also made the relationship finder engine better and smarter.
    Jul 2004: Quick Edit
    Quick edit lets you edit or create names in your tree while you are browsing the tree. Here's how: Login as administrator. Click the "Quick Edit" link at the top (just below the menus). Your tree is displayed. You can edit names by clicking the "ğ" symbol on the left of each name. You can also create new names in the "Family" and "Descendants" views by clicking on "Create Spouse" or "Create Son" or "Create Daughter" links (when they appear). Visitors to your site will not have access to "Quick Edit", only site administrators.

    Apr 2004: Choice for online photo resolution
    You can now choose the resolution at which TribalPages should store your uploaded photos. When you upload your photo to TribalPages, if it is a large photo, it get automatically resized. This is done so that you can maximize on the number of photos that can be stored in your allocated online storage (usually 15Mb). You can now choose the resolution TribalPages should use to resize your picture. You select the size in the photo upload page.
    Apr 2004: Ahnentafel Report
    You can generate this report for your site by choosing "Ahnentafel" from the "Tree" option in your menu bar while browsing your site. An ahnentafel report is a listing of one`s ancestors, numbered according to generation. On your ahnentafel report, you are number 1, your parents are numbers 2 and 3, your grandparents are numbers 4 through 7, etc. Numbers 8 through 15 are reserved for the generation of your great grandparents whether or not you have information on them. In a typical ahnentafel report, especially one including many generations, some numbers will be missing.

    We have created a Tour of TribalPages. The tour has three Trails (Overview, Browsing and Updating) as well as John's Guide. The Tour replaces the "Features" page.
    Mar 2004: Two Message Boards
    We now have seperate message boards for Genealogy and Technical forums. Use the Genealogy forum to if your are looking for your Ancestorsor have a tip or message for your fellow Genealogists. The Technical Message board is for technical questions, tips or suggestions for TribalPages Support or fellow members.
    Mar 2004: GEDCOM backup echanced
    We have updated the GEDCOM backup service. The enhancements are: [1] It runs faster, much faster. [2] There is no queueing of backup requests. Even larger sites (with more than 2000 names) can backup their trees instantly.
    Mar 2004: Name search now returns all results
    If the name search resulted in more than one page of results, then you will have a "next" link that will let you look at the next page. Previously only the first 100 matches were returned.
    Feb 2004: Important lastnames highlighted on Homepage
    The highlighted names are to draw attention to important lastnames. The criteria for "important" is: [1] The lastname should contain at least 3% of all the names in your tree. AND [2] The lastname should have 5 or more names (for smaller trees) There is a twist to #1 where, if 3% is more than 25 names then the limit is 25.

    Jan 2004: GEDCOM import (Upload) size increased
    You can now send GEDCOM files upto 4 MB for import into your site. This limit used to be 2 Mb.
    Oct 2003: In place drop down photos. (Microsoft Internet Explorers only)
    When you are browsing a tree (Family,Ancestor or Descendant views), moving the mouse over the camera icon will display the photograph. This drop down feature only works with IE4 and above. Clicking on the icon will take you a page with full size photos.
    Sep 2003: Relationship Tool available for larger trees too.
    Previously the Relationship tool was available only for family trees that contained less than 2000 names. Now that limit is extended to 5000 names.
    Sep 2003: 15Mb Limit on photos
    We have imposed a 15Mb limit per site. This limit is for photographs only. You can upload any number of photographs of any size (upto 1Mb each) from your computer into your web site as long as you do not exceed your allocated limit (usually 15Mb). 15Mb of space holds approximately 300 photographs. TribalPages compresses your photos so that they use as little space as possible without compromising on the photo quality. So you should not have to worry that the picture you are uploading is too large.

    If a photo is a group photo, the Relationships between individuals in the group is computed and displayed.
    Aug 2003: Multiple Albums
    Create your own albums. Importing a GEDCOM will not delete all the photos. If a name is not found the photo remains in the album, but not attached to a name.

    April 2002: Info Box Spillover
    If you have entered a lot of information for a person, only the words that fit in the "information-box" on that person's page are displayed. The entire text appears at the bottom of the page. This was done to make the page more aesthetically appealing.
    March 2002: More Search Options
    You can search the TribalPages Directory, by First Name, Last Name, Birth year, Death year or Marriage year. You can also limit your search to look for only living or dead persons.
    March 2002: List of Last Names on Homepage
    By popular request we have added a list of last names to your home page. Each name is hyper-linked to the group of full names that share that common last name. This list is automatically updated whenever you add a name that has a new lastname. Last names in the list are automatically deleted when no names in your site have that lastname.
    Febuary 2002: Photograph Upload Progress Animation
    While you upload photographs to your site, a window will pop-up to show you the progress of the upload. Also, disabled the upload button while a photo is being uploaded. This prevents the same photo from being uploaded twice.

    Invite Friends and Family to View your Site. You will find a handy tool in the "Tool" section of your Web Site. Enter the names and email addressess for those you would like to invite to view your web site and TribalPages will send out invitations by email.

    Added dark background with light text to the available schemas. Also redesigned the settings pages.
    October 2001: Name Suffix
    A new filed for the name has been added. In addition to the first, middle and last name you can use the suffix field. Use this for disignating Sr., Jr., or I, II, III etc. This feature can also be used to avoid duplicate names in your tree. TribalPages automatically adds the dirth or death year as a suffix to avoid name conflicts.
    October 2001: Photographs : Sharing
    You can now share photographs between names in your tree. Use this feature if you would like the same photo displayed for several names. For example, if it is a family photo or a wedding group photo.
    July 2001: Printing : Ancestor View
    When you click in the "Printer Friendly" link in he Ancestor view, a new window pops up with a printable tree of the Ancestor View. Make sure you have set your printer to "Landscape" before printing.

    May 2001: Backup and Download your Family Tree
    You can now Backup and download your Family Tree as a GEDCOM file. You can save the downloaded gedcom file on your computer or floppy disk. This way you can restore your tree to a previously saved date.
    Apr 2001: Search
    A search feature has been added to your website. Please note that the search is limited to only your tree. You will not see the result from other family trees. You can search by firstname or lastname. Just type in the first few letter and TribalPages will provide you with a list of matching names that begin with these letters.
    Feb 2001: Page Counters
    A counter is displayed at the bottom of your website. This indicated the number of pages that have been served for your webite. It counts the number of times visitors to your site have viewed various pages (names).

    Till now the names in your Family were sorted and displayed by first name. Now you have the option of viewing by last name.
