About THE GOSNALL FAMILY OF ESSEX
"To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child. For what is the
worth of human life, unless it is woven into the life of our ancestors by the records of history?"
Marcus Tullius Cicero, 106 B.C.-43 B.C. -----------------------------xxx000xxx-------------------------- "If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples, then you and I will still
each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then
each of us will have two ideas."
George Bernard Shaw - 1856-1950

---------------------------XXXOOOXXX---------------------------- Welcome to our Tribal Pages. Here you will learn something about our predecessors and their
history as it is being discovered in real time by me and my cousins in the various branches. You
will find one or two on-line-links that have been helpful to us in our quest to trace our roots. There are links to web-sites of two organisations of which I am an ordinary member that are of
great assistance to us in our research, they may provide you with more detailed information that
could open other lines of research when you become bogged down. Other links take you to sites
concerning my home town of Grays Thurrock, Essex, England UK. If you can help me with my on-going quest I shall be pleased to hear from you. If you think I can
assist you in any way I will endeavour too, within the limitations of my knowledge and ability.
Just leave me a message in my Guest Book which I hope you will spare a minute or two to visit and
sign. These are the principal family surnames involved in my research: GOSNALL, BUTTELL, CARTER, DINES,
GILMOUR, GRANTHAM, HEMPSTEAD, KNIGHT, NEWTON, MERCER, MOTYER, OSBORN, PACKHAM, TUTTON, WILSON,
WINSOR, and WINTER/WINTERBOTTOM many more are listed in the index who have become embraced by
marriage. In other pages you will find more details about our family and their lives. Details of living
members are suppressed for security, but I will communicate with you direct if you contact me.
Thank you for visiting and please tell others who you think may be interested. Albert Wm. Gosnall

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
