Tue 18-Jul-2020 - General Updates;
About Renfrewshire: Adam, Lyle, Lang, ... McArthur, Munn ...
This site contains names, and details for many ancestors of our families. One major interest area is that of the descendants of James Lyle (born circa 1744) and Elizabeth Wilson (1752 - 1844) of Ayrshire but mostly Renfrewshire, and with some focus on John Lang and Elizabeth Lyle. The Langs are "numerous" and tricky to track! The latest updates include lots of dates - several have still to be verified.

A number of side families are also included, e.g. the Adam and Dick families who emigrated to NSW in the mid-1800s, and the relationships with Paine, Cadell, Benson, and Pye, well- known families in the Hawkesbury and surrounding areas. Oatt, Orr and Campbell also feature.

I have taken care to try and respect the privacy of all living individuals. In the unlikely event that you come across anything that should not be published, please let me know immediately, as this will be an oversight on my part. I hope you enjoy looking round the site and please contact me if you have any questions or corrections, or additional information.

For those who wish to understand the selection criteria on this site, I include cousins (up to sixth), and their spouses. I also include parents of spouses, and with a number of exceptions, I exclude siblings of spouses. I hold information on extended families of Paine, Pye, Cadell, Acland, Ovans, and McKillop families. Please contact me if you have interest in any of these families.

One final note that Tribalpages does have a good user interface for surfing around a family, but a constraint is that only one census and one occupation is held per individual. Tribalpages normally selects the first (earliest) record. In many cases, my own records include several recordings of census and occupation, and therefore the information shown here is not complete. I have lots of findagrave records which don't appear to transfer via gedcom and are failing to show up here.

Thanks
 Stuart

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
