About Braes of Lochaber
This site is named after the locality in Scotland from whence came John Campbell and Mary McArthur, my earliest Scots ancestors in Australia. On their grave, in Glendon Brook churchyard, is the notation 'Native of the Braes of Lochaber'. In 2008 I purchased a small property in Lochaber in memory of them and with it the alleged right to style myself 'Laird', which is peculiar to Scotland and simply means that the person freely owns his own land and is not a tenant or a lessor; however it is not a title so I shall remain plain Mister! My land, all 144 sguare inches of it, is on Keil Hill which overlooks the beautiful Loch Linnhe and has extensive views over Highland scenery, especially to the North and to the West; provided that my near neighbours are not taller than me and are not at home.

However the Lord Lyon, King of Arms, has made it abundantly clear that owning one square foot of Scottish soil does not entitle one to be called anything other than a romantic.

Much of the early information ought to be taken with more than a grain of salt or even a good pinch. The alleged descent goes back to Adam and Eve, via a site that may or may not take itself seriously (so no names, no pack drill ! !) Gaius Julius Caesar II (possibly born 3rd Century BC, the site doesn't allow minus dates) also gets a mention but there is much contention about this and the line shewn is only one of a possible five put forward by one scholar. So view with caution or even mirth ! !
