The orgin of the Cavazos name is Italian,The first Cavazos in this country came to Santa Maria  Vieja in Castilla Spain he spelled his name Juan  Cavazzo his parents were Gabriel Cavazzo ,moved  to Spain whe Cival war broke out in Itely he met and married a lady there, Simona del Campo.He died June 15,1683 Monterrey Mexico.He married Conquistadors daughter Elena  Garza,his mother spanish father Italian Cavozas in Mexico and USA today are decendents. Port Mansfield is located on land dating back to the San Juan de Carricitos land grant given by  the King of Spain to Jose Narcisso Cavazos
