FONTI ET FIDELI NIHIL DIFFICILE -
For the brave and faithful, nothing is difficult.

Pour le courageux et fidele, rien n'est difficile.

I first started research into the family tree in November 2006,with information gained from relations and family bibles. One piece of information was a press cutting from the local evening newspaper the 'Evening Sentinel' c 1959 ( North Staffordshire and Stoke-On-Trent) asking for members of the Deane Family of Norton to contact Graham Cope-Cartledge ( a North Staffordshire genealogist who had been commisioned to trace the Family Tree by my Great Uncle Geoffrey Arthur Deane) with a list of names that the family were related to. Apparently no one in the family purchased a copy of the 'Deane Tree' My initial research was through the genes reunited site; where I was united with long lost relations on the Deane side of the family -John Repton Deane B.E.M. and his brother Peter Deane who surprisingly only lived about 4 miles away. John and Peter directed me to view their copies of the Repton tree, which also contained part of the Deane tree; compiled for the family in 1965 by Cope-Cartledge.In 2006 I have also been in contact with Mike Adams who via his family tree site advised me to obtain a copy of the book 'The Adams Family of North Staffordshire' by Percy Adams giving a history of the Adams Family. In 2007 I contacted Ann Bowers, nee Deane the daughter of Geoffrey Arthur Deane who surprisingly only lives half a mile away in Biddulph.

Late 2009 via the genes site had a contact from Stephen and Bridie Alexander. Bridie being a descendent of Frank Allen who married Betsy Gertrude Berry.

Jan 2010 another contact via genes site from Clive Babb who married Sally Cooper, the daughter of Frank Cooper and Christine Holdcroft. Christine was the daughter of Leonard Holdroft and Annie Elizabeth Berry.

This tree contains nearly all of the Adams Family Tree of North Staffordshire and the complete Repton Family Tree (including Humphry Repton the Landscape gardener)

A great deal of work has yet to be done
and as and when time permits and records are confirmed then this site will develop.

I am also grateful to my French friends Serge and Jeanette Rouet who researched the De la Mare connections

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
