About Stokoe tree, branches and twigs!
Hello and welcome to the Stokoe family site. Our Stokoe family originated in County Durham – well, at least as far back as the mid 18th C - with two branches moving to Ontario in the 19th C. One major peripheral family on this site - the Weatherley’s – were also from the north-east of England, mainly Wallsend and Sunderland, and some made the same westward journey to Ontario and also Quebec.

Like most family trees this one will be edited and added to as information becomes available. We've amassed lots of raw data - names, dates etc. – but it would be nice to discover more about the individuals who make up the tree. There are no promises or guarantees that the information is perfectly correct although we have tried to research as diligently as possible. If anyone visiting the site notices errors, omissions etc. could they please let us know, we would welcome any corrections or additional information as well as any photographs etc. which could be included on this site.

Most of the information is restricted but if you think you may be connected to this family please request an invitation to view the site.

Thank you to everybody who has helped; so many people have been very generous with their time and willingness to share information, especially Christine Buckham, Judy Scott, Noel Stokoe, Mike Preiss and Terrance Stokoe.

Not known, because not looked for
But heard, half-heard, in the stillness
Between two waves of the sea.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
