About Finding Samantha
click here for the Stories Section
of my website!

{written on Sep 14 2008}

I started looking for Samantha Mattie Robertson about 5 or 6 years ago. I have found
snippets of her, but after all this time. I still haven't found her. Where did she go?
She disappeared and has never been found again. Her daughter looked for her all her
life, wrote newspapers, contacted old families(Uncle said she was in Jasper
Co.,MO). Never another clue. Mary Evert Louise Brookshier, Kirkley(adopted), m.
Millaway, m. Ross. Buried as Mamie Ross in Mesquite, Dallas County, TX. She died,
never knowing what happened to her mother.
I have over 2300 people in my gedcom file, and none of them can tell
me what happened to Samantha Mattie. Do you know? Also known as Martha
Robinson. Mattie Brookshier.Martha Brookshire. Samanthia,Mattie,Martha? Robertson, so
many variations, my brain could explode!

I would also like to add something about my sources. When I started searching my
family, I really didn't know the exact definition of a "source". About 1000 people
into my family tree, I started putting good sources. And I have deleted some people that I
could find no source for. If you need a source, email me,I have a lot! I will gladly
send it. Also, my tree is not all my work, no one's is. My
Thompson's before 1800 are from Gaylan Wallis & Edith Kyser Smith, as well as several lines
after 1800. A lot of family have worked on the Robertson tree. To name a few, my mom,
Roger Thornton, Nancy Bowen, Kay Robertson, Lu Edwards, Vivian Parker, Lynn Moore, and
many more. The Thornton's are almost completely Roger Thornton's work. The Lasater's
are part from my mom and part from D.C. Pluckett and me of course. Vickie Hoffman,
helped get me started on my Phillips(thanks Cuz). And she got me connected with Sue
Thielman, who sent a lot of Duree info and Pictures, which I also find in many books.
So when you ask for a source, I may direct you to these people or others that I have
failed to mention.

Thanks, Laura
