About The Gibson Family
This site has been created in honour of my dad Alec Gibson (Albert Edward Gibson as he was christened). He was born in Hackney on the 18th April 1917 and was the third child of William Edward Gibson and Beatrice Amelia Vaus. Nanny Gibson (Beatrice) had eleven children and although they weren't poor, they were not exactly well off either. Life was pretty hard I understand. Alec joined the RAF at the beginning of the war and met my mum Peggy (Margaret Clemons Sidwell) in Weston Super Mare. Alec was stationed near there. They were married in 1940 and moved to St. Athens in South Wales where my sisters Julia (1941)and Lesley (1945) were born. I was born in Cavendish Mansions, Clapton Square, E5 in 1949 as the family had then moved back to London. Alec worked for several removal companies as an Estimator and became a Director of Bullens Removal Company overseeing large industrial removals such as The Daily Mail, 10 Downing Street, Shell, and St. Thomas' Hospital. In the early 1960s he joined Beck & Pollitzer and then created his own removal company with some of his brothers. They named the company GBN Removal Company Ltd. He sold the company and retired in the 1970s and moved from Buckhurst Hill after my mother died in 1976 initially to Hartley in Kent to be with Daphne and then to Woolpit in Suffolk.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
