About The Gray Family
Please sign in to see more.
I am Marlene Carter. My Father's side was formerly the GRAY name until
changed to GREY sometime in 1885 for unknown reasons. On my mother's, mother's
side was a Gray lineage of colonial settlers also.
It can get confusing going back but is very interesting nonetheless.
William Henry Gray, on my Mother's side was a notable Colonist in Adelaide South
Australia and owned considerable land in many areas known as 'Gray's Estate'.
The family covers many South Australian settlers including the Bagshaws and
Scammells.
On the Grey side they were early settlers in Port Pirie and also well known.
On my Mother's Father's side are the Lorrain Family, going back to the 1500's in Dumfries Scotland. The Barclay family were also early settlers in Victoria.
Our eldest son has married, Annette, her family are from Country Australia. Our youngest son has married, Allison, her family are Father, English and Mother,Thai. Our middle son has married, Natalie and her family have roots in South Africa and England.
My husband's family comes from England and I am still gathering and
putting together details so it is not completed yet!
