About Diggin Up Bones/My ancesters
My family tree is a work in progress. Not
all verified but working on it. Adding proof
as I find it. The information on my ancestors,
came from cousins and research. I have spent 30
years researching my roots. I have been
shocked, surprised and at times bursting with pride,
at the rich history. The hardships they
endured and the excitment of a vast new country.
How strong and brave they were.

Our forefathers, the founder of our
family. Every brave and good life out of the past is
a treasure which cannot be measured in money,
and should be preserved with faithfullest
 care.

Our ancestors came to America for many
different reasons. The LeGere's fled France, kicked
out of England for being christians. Oliver Cope
to came to America, for relegious reason. His
family was one of the first to settle in Pa. they
were Quakers(Olver knew William Penn) England had
fined and imprisoned members of the Cope
 family for their religous beliefs.
Many came looking for a better life for
themselves and their families. Our ancestors
 came from England (Hensley/Shockey/Dodson/
 Copes),Scot-Irish (Wolfe/McDaniel/McDonald),
 Jewish/Cherokee Indian(Brock),France
(Legere) , and from Ireland (Singleton/Ogan/Cumber/
 DaLton.) Gremany(Deal)
       Our ancestors fought indains (some
mrried indian women),they fought in the War of 1812, and even Lord Dunmore's war the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, World War I & II, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. Our family is full of Hero's, Men that have fought for our freedom and liberties. How brave and honorable.
Several of our ancestors were Preachers,
Rev. Wm. LOVIN, Rev. Enos SHOCKLEY, Rev. Alexander JARNIGAN, ElderThomas DODSON, among others. Several of our ancesters help establish several churches in Hancock co and Claiborne counties in TN. We also had a curcuit riding preacher, Rev. Jeremiah Singleton Jr., son of Irish parents, Jeremiah Singleton Sr. and Mourning
Cumber/Coomer Singleton. Rev. Peter Ogan, said also to be 100℅ Irish, he was a preacher and known as a good and kind man of God, and was a witness on numerous legal documents.
