About HOLETON/VANDEGRIFT and allied families
This site is dedicated to my Grand-ma, Mary Elizabeth VanDeGrift Holeton. She was the kindest, most wonderful person I ever knew.
I will have to give credit to my cousin Harold Apple for a lot of the information on my VanDeGrifts.
For all intents and purpose, I am using the
spelling "VanDeGrift" for the VANDEGRIFT's , as used by my Grandma and her immediate
family. My uncle John had started on the
Holeton/Holten/Holton side, but with the children being sent to the orphanage at such young ages, there is very little information on them, but I am going to keep on trying...........I am following every lead as they become available to me, so be patient. If any one recognizes any of the names I have been able to find in my family and you think you may have some information, no matter how trivial you think it may be, please contact me....my e-mail address is on the site. Have fun, enjoy, and let me know what you think. I welcome any and all constructive information and critisism. Also, I will do any look-ups for any one if you need help in the ohio area.I will do what I can , as best I can, but mostly in the Darke, Shelby, Logan, Champaign and Miami county area. Happy Digging!!!!!!
Just so there is no confusion, as I get ANY information on the HOLETON,HOLTEN,HOLTON names, I will add it to my webpage. This is not to say that the people I am adding are my relatives,MOST will be, and so far, all are my relatives, but I have an awlful lot of information that I came across, during my search that IS NOT my direct line, and rather than waste the information, I will share it. I just want this to be a place where any one searching the names can come and hopefully find a connection. If you veiw this and
see some one you think may be your connection, and you want to contact the person I
got the information from, I will e-mail asking their permission for the contact.I am currently adding all the burials located at Forest Hill,, Johnston, and Cedar Hill cemeterys(located in Piqua, Miami county Ohio.and phtographing all headstones and markers onto Findagrave.com The link is added below. I have a few for the Houston Cemetery(Shelby county)That project will be finished at a later date. I am concetrating on the ones in Piqua first. If you look at my CAMPBELL's, you may notice a small "m)" or a small "d)" beside some of the dates. That is mostly for me. I have CAMPBELLs on both my Father and Mothers sidesso the "m" and the "d" are for me so I dont confuse myself.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
