About The Richardson/Macdonald Family
Please sign in to see more.
My name is Karen Richardson and this is my family tree. I first became interested in my roots after the passing of my dear parents who had left me a box of intriguing old photographs and certificates. Like many of us in Australia I have now discovered that my family originally came from Scotland, England and Ireland. I have also begun to trace my husband's roots as well, discovering much information about his English and French ancestors. This tree is a work in progress with additions and corrections occurring regularly. I gratefully acknowledge the help and information received from many people. The internet has introduced me to many generous people willing to part with information and advice. After all this time thinking I must be the only one researching our Macdonalds, my 3rd cousin once removed, James MacDonald recently contacted me and has been a huge help filling in the blanks on our Thurso family. Also Barry's cousin Rick and his wife Helen have been kind enough to contribute some wonderful Richardson family photos to this site as has Gail from the Sharp side of the family. However, without offending any of these people I would like to single out two very special people Heather Armit (no relation!) who guided me in the right direction in the early days of my Scottish research. Also through Heather I was able to make contact with some wonderful English 2nd cousins from the Armit branch. My own 1st cousin Dawn Churchill has been an amazing help searching for records and photographing cemeteries and buildings which were difficult for me to visit for the Rickard/Honeyman branch. A big thank you to you all!
My biggest thank you goes to my ancestors who braved very tough times both overseas and in Australia. Your courage and determination to seek a better life for your family is the reason this generation lives the wonderful life that we do.
I hope we would have made you proud.
