About House of Potter
The House of Potter is the genealogy report of Elijah Dallas Potter and his related families. I invite everyone who is directly linked to him to add their own family history. Share pictures too. I hope that as I continue to build this site it will be helpful to others who are trying to break through their own brick walls. I will also like help to break through my own. James Potter, John T. Kiser and William Kizer still allude me. I have my own theory on the ancestry of James Potter. But it is only a theory. I will be sharing it later but please keep in mind that it is NOT accurate.
I started doing the Potter genealogy for Uncle Fletcher. He didn't know where his family began. He has been very helpful to me in sharing his recollections. We toured the cemeteries together in Alabama where Potters are buried. We had a great guide in Hugh Potter who lives in Jackson County, Al. He took us to Jonathan Potter's old farm on a mountain. His barn still stands. I believe Jonathan was Elijah's uncle. I will be putting pictures up from our travels. I have pictures from 3 cemeteries so far. I recently located the grave of Benjamin's young son, Johnnie Thomas. I hope to go to the graveyard in Sevier County, Arkansas soon.
This site is designed for the family of Joel and Ella Hitt Potter also, since they are interested in knowing their family history. I invite them to add their family to this as I do not have all of the nieces and nephews or their families. If you do not want your private info on here let me know. I can delete it.
I hope everyone will enjoy this site and will return often. Don't forget to sign the Guest Book!

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
