About Wood,Charlton,Seal,Lane,Dent clans
Please sign in to see more.
Hello and Welcome to this website. My name is Margaret Dent and I am the Administrator of this site. I have always been curious about my roots and now I have retired and have the time on my hands I have managed to dig a little deeper. The Wood,Charlton,Dixon Dent and Sinclair side of the family have their roots in the North East of England, whilst the Lane and Seal branch of the family are all from London,Kent and
the South East.I am still adding names to this site,so please visit from time to time for updates. An interesting point that not many family members know is that when I was born I was originally named Rosemary...I have shown a copy of a letter sent to my mother from my maternal grandmother(Eleanor Lane, born Seal)just after my birth, which may have accompanied a gift, addressed "To Rosemary".Obviously my father wanted to name me after his own mother, hence it was changed to Margaret.
The Lane family can be traced back to 1599 with verification and back to 1066 in conjunction with other websites. The name came over from France with William The Conqueror and started off as De la Lone...the first noted as Adam de la Lone.
As for the Wood side of the family, this can be traced as far back to Frosti Karasson,King of Finland 0380-0430 with connections to many of the Royal families of Europe, plus various links to the Plantagenets.
I hope you have enjoyed browsing through my website. If there are details that need to be changed or I have failed to include family members please contact me.Please make a point of signing my guest book and leave your comments.
 Regards,Margaret.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
