The purpose of this Web site is to gather as many Palmer and Parmer cousins as possible showing their relationship to Martin Parmer and to each other. This site will also help others easily access much genealogical information they can find nowhere else in a single lococation.

We discussed this project at the last two Palmer/Parmer Family Reunions in 2001 and 2003. After much searching, Webmaster, Kameron Searle, has chosen tribalpages.com to host the Martin Parmer Family Tree. This family tree was was begun in December 2004 and will take years to complete.

Be sure and bring your family trees to the 2018 Palmer/Parmer Family Reunion. Sources will be credited for information and copies of photographs provided. See Reunion Web page link below.

Martin Parmer was born Martin PALMER.

As an adult, he changed the spelling to PARMER. Most of his children changed the spelling back to PALMER. Martin Parmer was a frontiersman, pioneer, Indian fighter and a statesman. When Missouri became a State, he was elected to the first Legislature. Later he was elected to the Missouri State Senate. He arrived in Texas in 1825. Shortly thereafter, he was a leader of the shortlived Fredonian Rebellion (an early attempt to declare Texas independent from Mexico). In March 1836, he signed the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico at Washington on the Brazos and was Chairman of the Committee that drafted the Constitution of the Republic of Texas.

For more information on Martin Parmer's activities at Washington on the Brazos see the link below. Parmer County, Texas was named after Martin Parmer.

Martin Parmer is buried in the Texas State Cemetery in Austin in a place of honor 30 feet from the grave of Stephen F. Austin, the Father of Texas.

Again, be sure to sign the Guestbook. Let us know you visited and share details about your Palmer/Parmer line with others.
