About The Thomas David Harris Family
The Harris Family Tree was originally started by Elizabeth Harris in the late 70's. Following a reunion of the Richard William Harris Branch (sixth) in 1980, Melville (her father) took it upon himself to collate all the data that was presented to him, and to compile it in to a book for the future generations. So it was that "The Harris Family of Australia, 1838-1980" was printed for distribution on Australia Day 1983.

Elizabeth & her brother, Bob, continued to expand the tree for the next 2 decades and at the time of Elizabeth's death in 2002, the tree had grown to 2500 entries. This was collated on an old DOS program and unsuitable for conversion to the more modern Windows system, so there had to be a big conversion. With the advent of better communication, computers and the internet, as well as the better availability of information, Bob has grown the tree to it's now over 20,500 individuals.
And it continues to grow! You are welcome to add your own information

It is hope our family members will take an interest in our family history and continue it's growth. It would be appreciated if members add to the tree, that Bob is notified so the master copy can also be updated.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
