About Kingston Millis Family
Please sign in to see more.
This tree covers Millis descendants from Richard Millest of Cobham, Surrey (ca 1625-1675). In 1664, Richard Millest (or Mellish) sent his son, Thomas (b. ca. 1650) to Kingston to apprentice as a Cordwainer. The family surname spelling changed to Millis after 1700. A younger brother of Thomas, namely George Millest, was also apprenticed as a Cordwainer. His descendants have been traced only into the mid 1700s; hence the majority of descendants herein trace through Thomas.
For the above apprenticeship records information, special Thanks go to Marjorie Dallas, Vancouver, who shared her research concerning the apprenticeships of Richard Millest's sons, and early Kingston baptisms and marriages.
Richard Millis 2nd (of the 4th generation) had five sons having families. Of these, three sons have known living Millis descendants.
Counting from myself, there are ten Millest/Millis generations; hence the generation count may be greater for other descendants.
Special Thanks go to: Ken Millis, Melbourne; Marjorie Millis Johnstone, Yoogali NSW; Sarah M. Fox Smith, Yeovil Somerset - for IGI and BMD assistance, and photos.
