I have always wondered where my grandparents got my dad`s first name, Ola! Well, thank you for visiting here. Dad was the first born, b.1922 to Howard Smith Lawhorne 19years old and Elsie Louise Bowen 17years old. Then came Elsie Mae b.1923 and John Edger b.1927. Howard passed on and Elsie got remarried to Chester Wilmer and they had Barbara Ann Wilmer. My dad had only me, Patricia was a name he chose for me. He was known as Frankie, can`t imagine why he didn`t go by Ola. LOL. He enlisted in the Navy Aug 09, 1942 and was honorably discharged Oct 13, 1945. During his enlistment, he met my mom in New York City and they married Sep 18, 1943. He was at sea in several different places, where for sure I don`t know. I do know he spent time at the Wash. D.C. Navy Yard, his friends Evelyn & Wayne Suhr wished mom and dad `Lots of Luck` `Think of those old days in Wash.D.C. Navy Yard` He was a gunners mate. After I was born in VA they moved to Little Falls, NJ. I didn`t know my Dad at all. My cousin Brenda Cline said he was quite, that`s pretty much all she did remember besides he drank. He died as a result of a car accident he had while drunk. Praise God, I never could drink. If anyone knows any more about him or if you have any letters he wrote, please make copies and send them to me. Just let me know and I`ll give you my address.
