About Stoney - Kerr Families
Please sign in to see more.
(STONEY MOTTO) is NUNQUAM NON PARATUS OR "Never unprepared"........(KERR MOTTO) is SERO SED SERIO or "Last but in earnest"........................................................................................ Therefore our combined family motto now reads............"EARNESTLY PREPARED TO BE LAST"

Whilst this tree bears the names Stoney and Kerr we must not forget the other families who have helped create the branches, twigs and leaves of this tree.
From North of the Border we have the Kerr, McEwan, Houston, McMillan, Black, Clegg, Brackenridge, Lyall, Kirkwood and Willison families to name a few. These families mainly resided in Ayrshire with some infiltration from neighbouring Renfrew, Lanark and Dumfries shires. It was however the Kerrs who brazenly breached Hadriens Wall and encroached on England's green and pleasant land, finally to settle in the lands of Robin of Loxley and Snotties people.
From the Stoney stronghold of Yorkshire we have a young William Stoney daring to break the family shackles and single handedly he scaled the lonely moors of the Pennines to desert the House of York for the House of Lancaster. He then availed himself of a fair maiden from Salford and commenced to build his own Stoney dynasty in the southern parts of Lancashire. From the south east we have the Baldwins who, in the guise of traveling minstrels and thespians crossed the land far and wide from Kent to Essex to Somerset, Staffordshire, Yorkshire and Lancashire plying their talents and providing entertainment for the peasants and country folk along the way.
Other sources of foliage come from the Holly, Coombes and Love families from Monmouthshire in Welsh Wales and yes believe it or not there was a Thomas or two. There were a few Loves also in the Wolverhampton and Walsall areas of Staffordshire
There were the Hills of Dudley, The Hemmings of Birmingham, The Buntings of Kent and to add a continental flavour the Kieslings from Germany. The youngest additions to the tree were definitely "MADE IN CHINA"
Unfortunately many family members were devastatingly struck down with the dreaded 'itchyfeetitis' disease and with no known cure available were banished to far flung lands such as Canada, Australia and America. Some were cured and returned to their homeland, where others were left to mix and blend with the native habitats and create new exotic trees.
