About Tennessee Cousins
This is a result of many long years of research.. Our love of family and our desire to learn about the lives of our ancestors has taken us to many dusty libraries. We have found many surprises in those old tattered books.
We mailed countless applications to state and federal archives for war records,pensions....ordered books, subscribed to genealogical publications, copied census records. We unearthed stories that were inspiring,& amusing as well as sad, even tragic. We found civil war soldiers that died in battle ,a tragic death in Andersonville prison camp and brothers fighting against brothers who never forgave each other.
We found our gggrandfather who was a Missionary Baptist preacher....a circuit rider that rode horseback through forests and trails. He would preach to his followers in a clearing with a log for a bench and a stump for his pulpit.
I still pull out the old records and family Bibles. Now we have the internet but I really miss those dusty basements and old yellowed books.I miss sitting in the floor of those libraries with a stack of books, reading for hours. I only stopped to run to the copy machine. I could never have created this site without the help of my brother Larry Powell and his wife (and dear friend) Mary Lynn (Nielson), and our cousin Mack Caudle who was an early contributor to our Powell-Mayo-Thetford-Vick family . Sadly Larry passed away May 20,2019.
history. Our mother,Kathleen Crider Powell and our grandmother Nellie McDonald Crider shared their memories and family stories. There are still many more mysteries to unravel. 02 Oct 2018

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
