About ~MacDonald - McDonald Family Tree~
Please sign in to see more.
This website is dedicated to my wonderful parents, Herbert John MacDonald (1920 - 1990) & Gloria Florence McDonald (1925 - 2009).

I would like to extend a welome to all who visit my site.I have been researching my family history since October 2005, and am pleased to be able to present that information to you via this website. As I do not reside in or near a city, I have done most of my research through ancestry.com, where I have access to records such as UK Census' from 1841 to 1901,BDM Index, etc Scotland Census, convict records, Voter's Lists and much more.I have also been able to access the NSW & QLD online historical indexes for Births, Deaths & Marriages. The National Archives has also been a mine of information as well as the Australian War Memorial.Visiting Rookwood & St Thomas' Enfield is always on my list of things to do whenever I visit Sydney.

I started off my research with the names of my paternal great grandparents - Louis John Williams & Mary Jane Allen. This information was given to me by my father back in the early 1980s.

Finding our MacDonald roots was like pulling teeth, and I kept running into one brick wall after another. I began purchasing BDM Certificates, beginning with my grandfather Frederick William MacDonald and with the help of some 2nd cousins, was able to go back to our convict ancestors, Edward MacDonald and Sarah Liddiard.

My mother's side was virtually unknown to me, except for her parents, Florence Alice Wood & James Reid McDonald, who I knew was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.I later learned that Nanna was born in Charter's Towers, as were many of Mum's relatives, including Mum herself.A lot of this information came through a 1st cousin of Mum's - Ruben Collins. Without his input, it would have been a much more difficult task than it has been. Thanks so much Ruben, for your help & inspiration. I try to be as accurate as possible with my information, and if I have any doubt at the validity , I will not to add it to my site until I can verify it.
It's a fact that some of the info will not be entirely accurate due to human error, particularly with common surnames or when it dates back a century or more, and some small details may be wrong.I welcome relatives letting me know if I have something wrong. If you see any mistakes anywhere, please email me & I will be happy to make the required amendments.I would also be happy to include any photos that you would like to see on here.

Apart from records, I get my information through related people, for which I am most grateful, as I know I would not have come this far without their input. Thank you.
