About The SEALE and HAYNES and ALLEYNE Families of Barbados & Beyond
Please sign in to see more.
This site is interested in the genealogy and heritage of the following families of and
from Barbados, British West Indies: SEALE, HAYNES, MAYERS, DALBY, PIERREPONT,
CRICHLOW, JEMMOTT, LEWIS, ALLEYNE, KING, INNISS, DRAYTON, GROSVENOR, THORNE,
FORTE, CLARK(E), HUNT(E), BONNET(T), HOWELL, ASHFORD, BUTCHER, CORBIN, ELCOCK,
ESTWICK(E), FORSTER, HINDS, BOURNE, SANDIFORD, YEARWOOD and many other as yet
unrecorded or unidentified maternal and paternal lines connected to the above.

Since beginning to research my family history in 2005, there have been a number of people who have helped make the work easier, and definitely more pleasant, by offering their support and friendship. Thanks in particular to the late Marg {Seale} Mills, Burton S*, Lucille A and the late Doug A, Gordon S, Lyall S, Stephan D, Fran L, Kris C, Tom K, Karl W, Stewart, Don M, Cliff G, Junior S, also to departed sisters Hilda Harris and Freda Harris, & others who all contributed bits and pieces of their own family knowledge, recollections, and records.

 * However, this site would never even have come into being, if it had not been for the many many years of relentless sleuthing and dedicated research of just one person, our cousin & good friend, *BURTON LLOYD SEALE*. Born and raised in Barbados, yet for more than 50 years a resident in the Auckland region of New Zealand, Burton's love of his ancestry, family history and native country drove him to seek out and record the names and significant dates of our forbears and relatives, often "at-arm's-length" (in the old-fashioned way!) and certainly at his own expense. In 1992, Burt produced a volume of his findings-to-date, "BARBADOS, MY ISLAND HOME: A GENEALOGICAL SURVEY". He made that book (which was privately printed), and subsequent addendae of new discoveries, available to his immediate cousins in various corners of the world. Several contemporaries among my cousins have had the pleasure of owning or referring to the Survey. In 2005 my Mother passed to me her copy of The Book, and thus began this adventure into my own Seale and Haynes heritage.

**BURT**, on behalf of the cousins you yourself have known, the cousins who today are carrying the torch of our family history forward, and the cousins we have yet to (re-)connect with, thank you from deep in our hearts!

The most recent major update to the database was on April 06, 2020 (added another 1000 people!)

With regard to this website, there is much herein which can and will be added to, and the contents refined over time. As part of the TribalPages site, my database has definitely surpassed, both in content and usefulness, my former private website "Seale Family Archives", that was originally launched in Spring 2006 and now no longer is.

So remember to check back often -- this is still 'early days'!!

*************************************************************************

PLEASE READ "ADMINISTRATIVE NOTES & GUIDELINES" in the "STORIES" section!

*************************************************************************

If you believe that you may be a cousin, send me an email via the link above, and briefly outline how you connect to the Seale and/or Haynes families herein. Honestly, this is my entire database SO FAR -- if someone you're looking for isn't here, they're not (yet) "on my radar"! Renewing cousin connections with "lost" lines is a strong interest of our research group. =])

*************************************************************************

If you have PICTURES to contribute, please please PLEASE -- *BEFORE* sending them to me by email -- label each image (jpg preferred) with the person's _FULL name_, and if known, the location and approximate date (circaYear) of the photo (ie: Myown Ancestor -Barbados ca1920.jpg).
I reserve the privilege to crop and/or 'flip' the image as I deem appropriate for viewing on the site. Adequate JPG labelling will ensure they get uploaded and attached to the person's record that much sooner. =])

*************************************************************************

AND IF YOU HAVE FEEDBACK - HOPEFULLY NICE - PLEASE WRITE IN THE GUESTBOOK! TTFN, =]) Beth, now a resident of Greater Victoria, Vancouver Island, BC, Canada

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
