About The Taylor/Oberturf Family Tree
Welcome. I am Tracie Oberturf Taylor. This family tree is still a work in progress like most trees. They are never ending. I try to add only information that I can prove to be correct. If you see an error on my tree please let me know. Names followed by **, means I have questions on that individual and/or their family. If you click on the name I should have notes concerning what kind of questions I have for that person. If you see @ at the end of a name that is just a reminder for me.
I do get a lot of information from ancestry.com but I use caution with that. Not all the information from there is correct. Also through my research I have learned, when using the U.S. Social Security Death Index, the location that list where the individual died is not correct all the time. What they are actually giving you is the last know location of where the individual lived. Example: My dad lived in Grand Bay, Mobile County, Alabama and died in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama but per the U.S. Social Security Death Index his death is listed as in Grand Bay, Mobile County, Alabama. The U.S. Census records that I attach to a person I copy word for word. I do not correct any misspellings.
I also use findagrave.com but once again I use caution with that one too. There are errors. One of the biggest problems I have found is with the cemeteries. Example: Providence Cemetery in Texas. I have found obits that say a husband and wife are buried at Providence Cemetery in Jacksonville, Texas which is in Cherokee County. When I go to find a grave one spouse is listed in Providence Cemetery in Smith County, Texas and the other is listed in Providence Cemetery in Dialville, Texas which is in Cherokee County.
I am willing to share my information with you, however before posting the information concerning my immediate family please let me know what site you plane to post to. There are a few sites that I really do not care for my information to be shared on.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
