About Tytler Family
Please sign in to see more.
In the Year 1515 Lord Seton, having slain a gentleman named Gray in a duel, changed his name to Tytler and fled to France.
His 2 sons returned with Mary Queen of Scots in 1561 and settled in Aberdeenshire First found in Haddingtonshire where they were descended from the distinguished family of Seaton who were granted their lands by King Malcom Canmore of Scotland (1058-1093).
Our family is descended from that family but the links back are still to be found. George Tytler came out to Australia from Scotland in 1857 and settled in Euroa with his wife. Sadly, they lost their daughter Elizabeth age 8 months on the voyage out on the Bee. They had five more children but, tragically lost another daughter and two sons.George William Tytler,my great grandfather, was the only son left to carry on the name.
