2 entries/different branches/same person

I have a dilemma. I have found some names from different lineage of my family tree that circle around and converge into one branch. Example: a name from one tree branch marries to a member in another tree branch and now, after discovering the similarities, I have found that I have people duplicated that should be merged together (they are the same person). How can I easily and simple merger 2 separate entities that are in fact the same person?

Most family tree programs have a 'search duplicates' function.

You don't mention the local program you are using, but have a look around the 'tools' menu and you'll probably find something.

When you get a match, you can usually select individual facts to keep or discard (or keep them separate, since they aren't really the same person).

Once you resolve the duplicates, you can upload the merged result.
