Happy news! Our son is marrying a lovely lady who also is a member of tribal pages.....she has her own site and tree onTB.

How do we marry and merge our trees?

Thanks and happy new year.

Hi Pat, you do this off site on your PC, by using a different program.

Member Marie is an expert on this, and I am sure that she will help you.

Aren't you lucky - you have someone to leave your genealogy to - I am really envious.

You cannot merge two trees on Tribal Pages - You must do the merging off line on your computer. The alternative is to put a link in each tree to the other one.

Do you have a genealogy program such as Legacy or Roots Magic resident on your computer or on hers? If not you will need to get one.

Load the gedcoms of both trees into a single new file and add the lady to your son as a spouse. Check for possible duplicates and merge them as needed using your program.s method.

Create a new gedcom of the new combined tree and load it to which ever site is being kept

If you have problems, feel free to email me

James - Tribal Pages backup is a gedcom file. A standard gedcom does not include media. ANcestry made their own version with Family Tree maker(which had now been discontinued) THis was one of the reasons FTM gedcoms were incompatible with so many other applications.

If you don't already have the pictures on your computer, you will have to save each picture from TP to your computer. The easiest way is to right click on the needed picture and choose save as.
