I have some living members of my site including my wife who are complaining about their ages being shown incorrectly, by the Tribalpages program, against photo's. It is worse when the persons birthday is later in the year. From the beginning of the year a persons age is shown against a new photograph as it would be at their next birthday. For example a person aged 50 with a birthday December 2016 is shown as 51 for a photo inserted in the tree January 2016 and the year taken shown as 2016.

Personally I don't mind because my birthday is in January but my wife and others are unhappy that they are being shown as up to a year older than they actually are.

I cannot recall if the program has always been like this as this is the first time it has been brought to my attention. I have certainly not noticed it myself in the past even though I have put many photo's in the site in early months in past years.

Maybe Tribalpages will be able to adjust the system so that ages are shown correctly and keep everyone happy.

Apart from keeping wives happy it would be in Tribalpages interest to make the program look more professional, instead of amateur, as it does when these sort or errors appear.

Here is an example of what I described in my previous message. The persons full date of birth is in the tree. 22 Aug. 2001. The photo was taken 18th January 2016. When the photo was put in he tree the year taken was naturally entered as 2016.

The actual age of the person, at the time of the photo, was 14 years and 5 months. He will not be 15 until 22 Aug. 2016, yet the Tribalpges program states "Liam at the age of 15".

This may not seem important to some but it is incorrect. Surely Tribalpages would prefer that their program comes up with accurate data. If this is not possible then better to leave out the persons age.

Incidentally the person in this photograph was taking part in a athletics tournament for children ages 7 to 14. Pity it shows him as 15 as if taken as correct it would mean he was an illegal entrant.

Hi Alan

, have you noticed that only the YEAR is requested in photograph. So this seems to be the answer.

The full Day Month Year should be requested and entered.

All the best

Hi Les,

You are correct once again. Tribalpages Support should look at that. The age comes up correctly for the Enhanced Ancestor & Descendant Views that were introduced about 12 months ago. It is photo's data that needs to be brought into line.

Hi Alan,

You are correct. This is a glitch in the system. In computing the ages of persons in photos, we are only using the birth year and this is causing the error you are speaking of. We are working on fixing this.
