I have pointed this out to you in te past tay you cannot do this, as the GECOM belongs to that person, and they have to have full jurisdiction over it.
Here are two extracts from your

You are right. Owners of websites are the only owners of their family trees. We do not claim any ownership.
We do not store the family tree information in GEDCOMS. They are stored in a database. Every time a GEDCOM is uploaded the contents of the GEDCOM is read and the database is updated. The GEDCOM is of no more use to TribalPgaes and is discarded. When an administrator requests a GEDCOM, we generate a new one from the records in the database.
We are not a cloud storage service for uploading and downloading GEDCOM files. GEDCOMS files are not stored on TribalPages for download later.
Does this now mean that FREE sites will be able to DOWNLOAD their GEDCOM as PAID sites can do as it is all saved the same by you goodselves.
In all your Advertising for recruiting Members , you do not STATE anywhere that FREE sites information cannot be downloaded.
This puts these Members in a false sense of security, as most just open up a FREE site and start adding private information ( They do not all UPLOAD a GEDCOm )Once this is done, they have no way of retrieving their information, unless they convert to a PAID site. This is not pointed out to them, and according to your TERMS OF USE you must let them do this.

Les
I have read Les's messages and your reply in which you have not stated what is the actual situation with new free sites. I find that I can download my Gedcom from one of my free sites which was created Sept. 2015.
What is the situation for a free site created now. Will members be able to download their Gedcom.
If not, I feel that you have not thought about the consequences, such as loss of membership and new members. A ridiculous policy. Don't you know that there are other family history sites available that allow downloading of Gedcoms from free sites.
In your own interests you should allow downloading of Gedcoms from all sites at all times. You must be aware that with the number of glitches in your system and the complaints about lack of consistent help from TRIBAL PAGES SUPPORT that many look at using other Family History sites. My advice is not to rock the boat any more and allow downloading of Gedcoms from ALL sites including new free sites.

I like Tribalpages and so do you. That's why we are members. However in this business world the objective is to make the majority happy and mot give competitors an advantage.
Cheers,
Alan
Just one SIMPLE POINT Their MUSIC addition came four years after I had pur this on my Site and suggested them to do this
Now for a PENNY ANTE solution they once again seem to spoil it for themselves..
Thanks for your input

It has nothing to do with not being happy with Tribal Pages and the price that they charge which is quite resonable.
FREE site Members can and do spend days and weeks entering their information by entering singly to Tribal Pages and some with a GEDCOM , and all this work belongs to them. ( Forget uploading a GEDCOM for the moment)
Now if they wish to DOWNLOAD their information back to their PC , they cannot do this, as Tribal Support will not allow them to make a GEDCOM UNLESS THEY PAY
A GEDCOM to download is their only means of doing this, but as they own the work that they have entered, and Tribal Support has admitted that it does not belong to them,
Tribal Support has no right to do this, and must give a way for them to obtainn their property and use as they wish

and the CEDCOM is the simple answer.
Hope that I have made this clear to you.

For a start I was given two options.
1/ Build a new family tree by adding names.
2/ Already have a family tree. Import the names into this site.
I chose option 2 and added the names by uploading a Gedcom. Quick and easy. No problems with that like some report occasionally.
I then went to "Edit" > "files" > "backup/download".
This is what it states -
{"Backing Up your Family Tree
Don't lose your data. Make a backup of your site and download it to your computer. You can then restore your site from your backup at any time. This feature is not avaliable to "Free Sites". Upgrade your site and take advantage of this and several other features that are currently not enabled on this site.
Backups are GEDCOM (a standard genealogy format) text files which you can import back into TribalPages or any of the several applications that accept GEDCOM files."}
If I had taken Option 1 I would be using Tribalpages to build my tree. All the work involved. I went through that many years ago when I started using T/P for family history purposes.
Having built my tree in Tribalpages I would now find I could not copy and back up in my own computer because I cannot download a Gedcom. I would have been put in the position of upgrading to a paid site or losing my work.
Tribalpages - If you are going to try to put the pressure on new members to upgrade to a paid site then you should make it clear at that point in OPTION 1 that a back up and a Gedcom from the Tribalpages site is not possible in a free site. They need to have another family history program to build the tree and save a backup. Not let them find out later that they cannot save the massive amount of data that they may have put in their new site.
I know that you say this elsewhere but to look at it from a possible new members point of view I went to -
https://www.google.co.nz/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=Tribalpages.com
and
http://www.tribalpages.com/signup5.html
Also I can go to -
http://www.tribalpages.com/freefamilytree.html
and be told its free to join. I click on that and are taken to the sign up page. No mention of what is free and what is not. I quickly scanned the agreement as I read that once upon a time and did not wish to go through it again in detail. I did not see anything about upgrades and costs in my quick scan.
I think that Les certainly has a good point when he says that even members with free sites have the right to be able to save what they have entered when building a tree. They own the data and you are asking payment to retrieve the information for use as a backup.
Personally I don't care for myself as I have a paid site. I am more concerned for new members and the reputation of Tribalpages in which have my site. I don't need to
Personally I don't care for myself as I have a paid site. I am more concerned for new members and the reputation of Tribalpages in which have my site. I don't need to upgrade my free sites and would delete these before doing so. I am more concerned about the new members who may not know that they cannot save and download a copy until it is too late and they then find they have been wasting their time. OR THEY PAY UP.
From your view point it is probably fine if they upgrade and you make more money. No complaints as long as they clearly know what they are getting from the start.
HAVE YOU DONE THAT. YOU DECIDE.
I think not.
Alan Scott
Obviously you cannot get a discount on a free site.
I could say this is T/P's way of trying to offset not allowing new free site owners to download and save their own material. Encourage upgrading. However T/P have had these discounts in the past. Must be a coincidence they have brought one out now ??. Fine for those who want a paid site.
TRIBALPAGES SUPPORT tell us what you intend to do about free sites from the past. When do you intend to stop downloads from these sites. At present you are penalizing new sites and still allowing downloads from old free sites. You get a lot of advertising revenue from free sites. How much of this will you lose as members delete free sites or don't start new free sites ?
Incidentally, does not show the discount as yet when I click on "pricing". My subscription expires end June. Can I take out the discounted rate now for the period 1st July 2016 to 30th June 2017.
For relying on someone else' server to store your stuff really isn't a good idea. Hey for the price of external drives today buy yourself, not you for say, but the one who wants protection of there own data.
sorry I'm not much help to argue this.
Lis-
how much snow did you get?
As you would know you get what you pay for. On the other hand something can be taken away and cause discrimination against a group. In this case new free sites are being discriminated against compared with old free sites. I like systems where it is equal for all. Pay for extras. That is fine. No problem with that as long as everyone is made clearly, well aware, in advance, what they have to pay and what they get for that. And, its equal for all in that group.
No snow where I live in Christchurch. New Zealand. Mid Summer here and temperatures vary, at present around 20C up to 30C. I have seen on TV the snow in eastern parts USA. Not nice at all. Best wishes to all in the USA who have been affected by the snow. I hope things are improving.
When I click on EDIT for my free sites I am being offered a 50% discount as a "dedicated genealogist" if I upgrade. Deal applies to 25th Feb. 2016. Yet via Forum you are only offering a 25% reduction to members.
Can I renew my paid site for an additional 12 months with the "DEDICATED GENEALOGIST" deal of 50%. No doubt members who already have paid sites would appreciate this gesture. Most members who already have paid sites are undoubtedly "DEDICATED GENEALOGISTS".

YOU MUST Explain how a FREE SITE member can RETRIEVE their tree from your site, as you have agreed that it is their property, and not yours to withhold.
As you have mentioned you Upload and hold all infromation from Free or Paid sites the same way, so their is no difference other than the FEE that you seem to want to impose on FREE sites to do this. You get paid from the advertiements on these sites, yet it is so simple for a Member to remove this from their sites, therefore no fee from this for you.
Not one of these Paid or Free sites are using Tribal Pages as a CLOUD, but as a legitimate Family Tree program to be shared and possibly be viewed .
CAN I HAVE AT LEAST A GENUINE REPLY FROM YOU OR FROM Ravinder Rao..
