I have a relative, male, who legally changed his name, also

his daughters, I am in the dark as how to enter or change or whatever I have to do.

Best Wishes and happy to see you in the Forum

Hi Doris,

what I do is select the Person/s and just change their Surname to the New one, then in their Notes you can explain if you wish.

Also if you do this you will see it underneath their Name. Select EVENTS and then CUSTOM you have a choice to name this I did CHANGE OF NAME ( This is always there to use again and again say for the other persons ) You can enter now into EVENTS NOTES at very end of the EVENT. You can give your explanation also there.

When you see the Family View you will see it underneath, but if you select Ancestor you will see the INDEX CARD with it on..

This one Alteration does not affect anything on your Tree, so you will have to alter as you then see fit, any other persons affected..

Hope tat I have made sense.

Regards

Les

Hi Doris, YES as long as you mention it in Notes,

You can see what you have put if yu SELECT NAME INDEX and the CHANGED NAME.

Hope that this HELPs.

Try just the one NAME to see if this suits you, as you can aways go back .

Les

Hi Doris, try the one person, and then SELECT NAME INDEX

Find the NEW NAME and selct it.

You should now see a CARD INDEX with your Up to Date Details, and the old Name will not be in the INDEX..

Les
