Hi I have done the same and still unable to work out how to change, I did delete a name (as suggested) but then lost all the family descendants below. Surely there is an easy option just to change without loosing hundreds of names.

HELP Somebody out there.

You should not normally have lost all the persons below but you will have to re-link the immediate ones that were below with the name you deleted and re-added. Also re-link the wife/partner. Have a look in your site name index for the persons you think are missing and you should find they are still there. That is provided you have only done what Les suggested.

For example, I delete myself and add my name again via my father, the names that were previously below me will still be in the site. However my son will not be linked to me. It is then necessary to link me again with him. Click add father and then "If this person already exists on this site click here". Find my name and re-link.

Normally what Les suggested you do should not have deleted names other than the one person. There is a little work involved in re-linking to the immediate persons below (children) and wife/partner. I think you should find it is only the immediate family that needs re-linking. That what I have found myself after deleting a name.

If you have lost a whole lot of names I think you have done more than what Les suggested.

I am not sure if I have explained this well. Les, if you would like to add more, please do so.

As Les said in an earlier message on this subject just delete the name and add again correctly. If there are children from the deleted person refer to my other message

Thanks Alan , explanation perfect.

I believe that istead of just doing the simple part of Delete and Re enter and see what small adjustment is to be made, some Members just go willy nilly ahead.

SLOW BUT SURE and double check.
