How can you set up an account as a guest or member. You can only set up a site/account as the owner/administrator. The administrators activity does show up. It is visitor activity that does not and all you get is ????. See my earlier message on this subject.

As far as I can see the site privacy has to be set up as membership model for guest/family members to show in the activity log.

I think that is wrong and same should apply for both Membership model and if using the Website Access Code.

It would be nice if Tribalpages Support would answer and tell us what they intend to do about this (if anything). We can then make a better decision on how we set the privacy for our site.

I could be wrong but I have it in the back of my mind that, once upon a time, there was no difference but has at some stage been altered by Tribalpages.

simply setup a new email account and add to your tree as a guest or member

I'm currently having no problems with the logs working okay for me

Hi Tony,

One other thought although I am far from being an expert on these matters. Under Access Code visitors certainly are using the same code but they all have different email addresses. Can the computer experts come up with a system to use the email address of invited guests when they log in to enable inclusion in the activity log. Just a question really because I don't know if this is possible.

Incidentally I did try using a different email address as you suggested and inviting my wife as a guest but all the program did was to try to change the original email for main site to that of the new one. I did not persist trying that. However its all sorted out now. I am not sure as yet if I will change back to membership model. I will give "Access Code" a try for a while. The only reason I changed from Membership model in the first place was that an invited guest was finding it impossible to log in but had no problems when I set privacy to "access code"

Regards, Alan

Tony, Thanks for your two messages. I wrote the following before I read your second message but decided to send this anyway as it might help someone else. You don't always know what you are going to get in a Tribalpages site until you try it out.

(written before reading Tony's second message)

I presume your privacy is set as "membership model" If you are "Website Access Code" could you go to "Edit > dashboard

and under sharing tell me if you can see "Website Activity Log"

Send Invitations

Privacy Settings

TribalPages Directory

Website Activity Log

If you have set your privacy to "Website Access Code" you will not see Website Activity Log. That is because there is not a Log for visitors as there is if the privacy is set as "membership model. The tree owners visits are recorded but not invited visitors.

If you are set to "Membership Model" you will have a Website Activity Log whish shows visits by invited family members/guests and yourself.

That is the situation I find has happened from the time I changed from "Membership Model" to "access code".

If a site owner wants to see "Website Activity" (apart from his/her own) then it is no use setting the sites privacy as "Website Access Code".

If Tribalpages Support had bothered to explain the situation in response to some earlier messages I sent direct to them (not through forum) I would not have raised the subject in forum.

Alan you can change back to membership model without a problems the system remembers guests and members email addresses I've changed back to access code a few times but always end up going back to membership model

it would be great to use both membership and code access together or have a system whereas a different code is generated for each user but that may turn out to be too complex for the site boffins and user

All the best

TP the contact button not working

Thanks Tony,

I would change back now but I gave about 30 the new access code.

Do you know what happens to family members old passwords if I change back. Does the system revert to the old password or will I have to send out new invitations to everyone.

If you cannot answer that question perhaps TRIBALPAGES SUPPORT WOULD REPLY.
