I have been using TP for several years and this is the first time I have encountered this.

I have a situation where a couple (shown as married with a marriage date) have two children. Using the husband's profile, the children are displayed. Using the wife's profile the children are NOT displayed. So I linked the two children using the mother's profile with existing family member process. This worked except it removed them from the father's profile. Looking at the children's edit screens, both the parents are shown in the appropriate area.

Hi Roderick, check if you have the Mother entered in the Childrens as the MOTHER in her Maiden Name, and also Check in the Mothers check that the Childen are entered in hers.

I have found in the past, that I have entered Chidren in only one of the Parents. and this has caused an anomoly.

Worth checking

All the best

Thanks for responding Les. There is usually a logical reason for these problems and in this case there was. I discovered that the father had been keyed with the wrong gender. When sometime later I keyed the mother, she automatically had the wrong gender. I deleted both and rekeyed and that corrected the problem. However it occurred to me that there may be another problem in the TP procedure. I don't have any same sex couples in my tree but it seems that this would be a problem if they adopted children. The children would most likely be attached to only one parent. (one of the parents has to be keyed with the incorrect gender).

Hi Roderick, yes I usually find it is an error on entering, that somehow we do.

Regarding the same SEX. I find that this is the only way to enter them, by giving one of them the incorrect Gender.

As I have put many times on FORUM although it is an argumentive point, it temporarily solves it..
