Hi there, my gt grqandmother Mary Plant married William Walker in 1868. The only details I have for Mary are from the marriage cert. And they are that her father was john Plant, (dec), a book maker, and that Mary is 21 and a spinster. From census records I've been able to find out that mary was born in staffordshire. Her age seems to be correct ie born 1846/7 in staff. But that's it. The most obvious birth seems to be to a John plant and Msrtha? In Brierly Hill in 1846, but I would like to hear from anyone who may know more about Mary and her ancestors. Regards Linda

There is a death registration for John Plant, at Eccleshall, during the June ¼ of 1868. Mary Plant and William Walker's marriage was registered during the September ¼ of 1868.

In the 1851 census John Plant is listed as a shoe maker. The marriage certificate could possibly say Bootmaker and be read as Bookmaker?

Yes it could. That should narrow it down on the census. Do you know if where I am able to access the death notice, and did they note partners and descendants in 1868? This is so exciting. Thank you so much, william and mary have proved so elusive (william was apparently born in the usa in 1850!!). Thanks again, Linda
