Do u delete a family member when divorce

Hello everyone, If u are divorce from someone, do you delete them from your family tree? What if u did not have children with them, do you delete them? what if you was married 5 and divorce 5 times do you keep them on your family tree?

Hi Sandra, there are no set rules. This is entirely up to you, how you want your tree to portray your or whoever it is life.

The main thing is if you want all or some of the Children to be added and continue the tree.

When in edit mode bring up the person concerned. At bottom of page, in same line as "spouse/partner", you will see "status". Here you have the option of showing "divorced" instead of "married".

I think that if the union produces children it is important to retain the divorced persons details. We are, after al, recording history as it happened. If we are producing the Tree with the hope that it will live on, after us, those who peruse it are entitled to see all the facts relating to all marriages.

Personally, I choose to remove all unmarried partners from my site, if no children result from the union, because there is no genealogical interest in it. No parent is removed when children do result from any partnership.
