This is a different Emile Gatien. My Emile was born in Cornwall ON in about 1909 to Ludger and Victoria Gatien. I have recently found out quite a lot about him, but there are still many gaps, particularly about his later life. He died in Cornwall ON in 1957.

Obituary:
The family of Rita Gatien sadly announces that she passed from this life on Wednesday, October 31st, 2007, at the age of 90. Rita was born and raised in Port Arthur, Ontario and married Emile Gatien in Geraldton in 1939, enjoying almost 50 years of marriage until his death in 1989.
Rita will be sadly missed by her four children, Vince Gatien (Debbie) of Whitehorse, YT, Emily Langohr (late Jack) of Thorold, ON, Susan Page (Gary) of Ogema, WI, and Clare Ristola (late Martti) of Thunder Bay. She was a loving grandmother to Paul Gatien (Leah), Frances Pataran (Tim), Theresa Gatien, Stephen Passwaters, Helen Furry (Fred), Jim Ristola (Amy), Phil Furry (Lynn), Karen Tennant (Paul), and Katherine Ristola (Brian); great grandmother of 14 and great great grandmother of 3. Rita is survived by her sister, Jane Geddie of Edmonton, AB.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Appolonia Ostaff, eight siblings Anne Medwid, Jessie Ostaff, Michael Ostaff, Kay King, Helen Moat, Sam Ostaff, Martha Ebenal and George Ostaff.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass to celebrate Rita's life will be held on Monday, November 5, 2007 at 10:00 AM in Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, Red River Road, Thunder Bay, ON celebrated by Fr. Alan Albao. Interment of Ashes will follow in St. Andrews Cemetery.
If so desired, donations in memory of Rita may be made to the Niagara Peninsula Children's Centre (567 Glenridge Ave., St. Catharines, ON L2V 4C2), or George Jeffrey Children's Centre (507 N. Lillie St., Thunder Bay, ON P7C 4Y8) or to a charity of your
choice.

Joseph Paul Emile Gatien was a Canadian soldier stationed in England. He was with the *5724 Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps.
He is the father of twins: Paul Gatien and Peter Gatien born March 28 th, 1942 in London.
The mother of the twins is : Phyllis Jessett a munitions worker . They lived together 5 years until 1946. Paul Emile Gatien went back to Canada.
The twins were put into an orphanage and they were sent to Australia.
I found that story on a website in January 2005.
The page is no longer on the website, I have a photocopy of the page.
I found some Gatien in Australia and I will write to them to try to locate their father.
If you know Paul Emile Gatien soldier at WWII, please let me know. Or if Paul or Pierre Gatien could read that message, please get in touch with me by the genforum.
