Sue Geving

married Caroline but we have tried for years and can't find her maiden name. They both lived and died in Lewis county Washington. They are my grandparents. I never knew them as they died before I was born. They were both born in Illischestie, Bukovina and we can trace the Wendling side back 7 generations but grandma is a mystery. Any ideas or help>

When putting a post up include the dates that yiou know. When were they born Died and any relatives to look for on a census or names of parents is very helpful.

Both Henry, Caroline and their first child Mathilda are listed as being born in Austria and emigrating in 1906 for Heinrich and 1907 for Caroline and Mathilda - this is documentary evidence if this is your family. Caroline and the children appear in the 1930 and 1940 censuses. Heinrich seems to die in Centralia, Washington Nov 11 1928 ( Washington death index

On his WWI draft card, Heinrich lists himself as Henry, his birthday as Dec 7 1880 in Austria, and his wife as Caroline

In the Ancestry Family Trees there are also several Public trees with this family all giving Austria as birthplace. One gives Caroline the surname Pozar

There is also a Johann Heinrich Wandling From Bukovia, Romania Who married a Christina Rumpel and had a son Josef Heinrich in 1902 - this familly also lived in Lewis, Washington

You should always check any facts on these trees for collaborating documents

I imagine one of these families is yours but from your post - I'm not sure which

Thanks so much. You hit it on the head. We came up with Carolines last name as Pozar as well but it leads us no where so we thought maybe it was a mistake. So much is just phonetic and just wrong. I appreciate you info.
