I'm wondering if there are any descendants out there of Commodore John Barry's family. I am related, a descendant, to his brother Peter. I would like to know more information about his siblings. I know Eleanor was written off as dead to the family when she left her husband Hayes to be with Moylan in Philadelphia. I know his sister Jane is a mystery because she was born in 1711 and there's a rumor she is actually a cousin or niece. But what about the other siblings. I don't have any information, stories or where they are buried.

It's me again. Those who have Eleanor Barry born 1711. I found out that is wrong. She was born 1743. So 1711 is a misprint and she is a sister of John Barry.

Because I am limited by information, I am unable to confirm any question asked within your post but I can say that there would be more than one Eleanor. Perhaps the one which you search for would be a descendant herself?

Also, because I am unfamiliar with countries outside of the US categorize cities/counties mapping, I could not venture to guess if one place would be physically to another (ie:changing boarders because of city growth, regional conflict, or a family simply deciding to move a mile or two down the road, but changing regions in the process)

I have found that family names repeat heavily. Not only paternal but maternal as well. Not only do that repeat, but often times, I have found that many have been given a name at birth but then called another through life-- which translates to another name on the census and registrations of the era-- and these names vary with spelling. It also seems there are lots of children named after siblings-- which adds to the confusion, but is often a good sign because it increases the likelihood that they are within the group you are searching.
