thank you so much for your efforts Robert. We have all that but the grave site and death date and location has so far been elusive.

His wife is buried in Ingersol (rural cemetary) and tombstone indicates "wife of the late Dr John Francis Mercer"

So obviously died b4 that date. He practiced in Goderich On. and raised the family there.

No death record for him in Huron county or any where in Ontario though.

We have checked the Renforth baptist church cemetary located on his Uncle Levi's (my grt grt grt gr father)

old property adjacent to the Samuel Mercer homestead but the Current pastor says no not there. Long shot anyway as it was too far from Goderich especially in the 1870's

Just have to keep searching he might have died out of province or visiting in the States Who knows
