My ancestors arrived in America in 1751, aboard the ship JANET. Does anyone have a photo of this ship?..

Commercial photography did not come about until about the 1840s, by which time I do not suspect that the 'Janet' still existed, or if it did it was a rotting hulk up some muddy creek.

Many thanks Jessica:For your response to my inquiry. I have traced my ancestors back to the year 1590, and find they came from Switzerland and the name was spelled VonGochnat. Hans was born in Turgovie. Low and behold Hans and his wife had only one son, good for me eh !!

Also I know the ship they came to America aboard The JANET, all the names of passengers etc. Only wish I knew what the ship looked like as I want a Ship in A bottle like this..

as ever Dennis..

I think that's pretty awesome, Dennis!

I have tracked several of my lines back about that far, but my challenge has been making certain that it would be facts I am following, rather than family lure! HA!

I know what you mean, though. It is a little bit different when you are able to see something as well as read about it.

I bet you aren't the only person who has had family on that ship, maybe some craftsman will recreate it...? Granted, it wouldn't be the original, but perhaps it might give you an idea of what the original would have been like.

Good luck to you.
