James A. Towns, born about 1877, Georgia

I am looking for information regarding my great-Uncle James A. Towns.

According to the June 1880 Census of Telfair County, Georgia, 337 District G.M., he is listed as the son of Elisha Edward Towns and Mary Jane Walker Towns, at age 3, born about 1877, White. Siblings listed are Mary C (age 7), Isabelle (age 5) and Sussie (age 1). Elisha is a farmer and Mary keeps house. All were born in Georgia.

Further searches into census records do not match his age or race. During the 1900 census, he would have been age 23.

The family has no information on who he is or where he ended up. This is a dead end in the family tree.

Hello, thanks for your reply. The picture of Elisha originally came from me. My mother has the printed photograph. I have discovered that James is apparently a nickname. According to further census records, his name appears to be "Johnson A" and may have been called "James". I haven't had a chance to post my findings yet.

P.S. I have another tree that I am building in FTM. I have a few more tweaks to make to it, then I am going to upload it and do away with my original tree on ancestry.

I have gotten myself confused, this Johnson A "James" Towns was the son of Johnson Corbett & Rebecca Brown, born in 1844. I am still looking for James A Johnson, son of Elisha Towns & Mary Jane Walker, born in 1877. So sorry for the confusion.
