My grandmother Emeline Leontine (Bovee or Teeter)always indicated that her mother was not sure who her father was and that her mother was 12 or 13 when grandma was born. Records show that Jenny Bovee Livingston County New York B 1901 D 1961 married Frank Teeter her much older Uncle. Was it common to marry a relative whom was pregnant and unmarried for appearances or simply common to marry relatives. I have found a census where grandma was 3 her mother was 19 (age of marriage 16) and father (uncle) was 42. There is nothing after that with them as a family unit. Grandma shows on a later census at the age of 13 as a boarder. Later censuses show Frank Teeter as single and I do not see where he remarried. In the 1930 Nunda New York Census it shows great grandma Jenny(age 29) as a servant of Everess Kelley and a Charles Drew also resided in the home (great grandmas nephew). Grandma Jenny went on to marry Everess Kelley and had 3 children with him in 31, 32 and 33. They weren't a close family and I would like to have an answer as to who grandma Emelines father was.
