GUILDFORD SOLDIER ON

DANGER LIST

Reported wounded in Libya on January 21, Private Randall Bar low, of Guildford, has now been

placed on the dangerouily ill list.

Intimation of this was received on January 31, at Manly, where his wife,

who is an invalid, is staying.

Private Barlow, who is the third son of Mrs. E. Barlow, of Clyde Street,Guildford, enlisted in

the firrt contingent of the A.I.F., and went overseas in January, last year. He is aged 30.

He enlisted from Guildford, where he had been living with his mother.

"I am hoping for better news of him," Mrs. Barlow told the "Argus."

"It has been a shock, but he en listed of his own free will and was ready to take anything that was coming to him. He promised his brother that he would leave his mark on the enemy; come what might, and we know he would carry that out.

"He was a good husband and a good son."

Pte. Barlow and Mrs., Barlow : have one son.

GUILDFORD SOLDIER'S

WOUNDS FATAL

A month after he was wounded in action in the Libyan fighting, Private Randall Barlow, of Guildford, died in hospital. He was reported wounded on January 21, and on January 31 he was placed on the dangerously ill list. He died on February 21.

Private Barlow was married and had one son. His wife, who is an invalid, is living at Brookvale.

He was the third son of Mrs. E. Barlow, Clyde-street, Guildford, from where he enlisted.

Private Barlow sent overseas in January, last year.

At last week's meeting of. Guildford Comforts Fund, the members stood in silence in memory of the dead soldier, and, afterwards, decided to send a letter of condolence to his family.

GOOD NEWS-THEN BAD

The day before Private Randall Barlow, of Guildford, died of

wounds received in the Libyanin fighting, his family received a cablegram

saying: "Doing well; love to all- Barlow."

Mrs. Barlow received a letter from her son,-written before the

battle of Bardia the day after the announcement of his death.

Private Barlow died from head wounds.
