There is a situation in which members separated by a few branches away have married. How to make a link without repeating the names again. If repeated, it gives two name in the selection process in the "Family of" selection menu. This causes confusion for the visitor as well as confuses the software. Please suggest a solution.

When inputting the marriage - instead of typing all the same details there is a box which says "if this person already exists on this site click here". Click that hyperlink and find your existing person.

Thank you Ms. Eileen. It is a great help. I shall try this. I have no doubt that I will succeed. It makes sense. Thank you once again.

This is easy to do, and often happens when relatives marry.

If the bride and groom have already been entered in the tree. go to either of them and click on the drop down menu by their name and click on "add Spouse".

When the new page opens click on "If this person already exists click here"

Then select the drop down for the surname (family name) then the given name. Once you have found the husband or wife click "Add this name".

You will then have the two as married and each in their own family line. Entering the marriage details on one will then show on both of them, but only after you have linked them together.

Hope this helps.
