Hi all. Its been ages since I did anything to my tree & thought I might have another go. In fact last time was around when T/P was saying they will never charge for this site. What happened there? "lol" Anyway my problem I now see that I must have got a little carried away back then & addded so many branches to my tree & some are way too distant, almost unrelated. Is there a way I can remove these lines without having to do each person one at a time. I guess you can say I want to trim my tree a little. Hope this makes sense

Thanks

Hi Kenny, memory correct. Sadly Agent Z who gave me this nickname , passed away a few years ago.

Age catches us all.

Hope "Marie " gets in touch soon

Finally emerged from the northwoods. Have you gotten straightened out?

Otherwise - do you have a genealogy software program resident on your computer? It will make things much easier. On TP you will probably have to do one person at a time

..... but not as good.

I personally would delete each person individually because I'm not confidant enough to know how to use a PC based program to alter a gedcom; basically I've never needed to do it.

Deleting individually can be quick and easy to do on TP. To delete siblings ensure that you are using one of the parents as the main person; then just delete all of their children EXCEPT the one that leads to your root person. Once the siblings are deleted (as I said it's quick and easy) then move to the child that is left to delete the parents etc. etc.

Hope this makes sense.

I would like to move a person to another branch instead of having to delete and start over. IE I have the grandfather listed as the dad and it would be nice to be able to insert a parent in between generations.

Hi, if you go to the person, you are talking about in Family View, you will see that you can add PARENTS. You then have a choice of a adding a NEW NAME or selecting one that is on a list. If this person that you select , has the Grandfather as the Dad,all you are doing is replacing one with the other.

Hope that this helps, and is what you require.
