About Arnold and Florence (Wiles) Jacobs Family Tree
I began work on this site as a tribute to Gram. She loved her children, and their children, and their children's children, with all her being.
They were her pride and joy, and I doubt that a day went by, that each and everyone of them didn't pass through her thoughts. Her family meant everything to her, and that love was extended to her brothers and their families as well. From her, I learned the importance of family. It may be the greatest gift she gave me.

I had to start with someone, so I chose Aaron Wheeler, an ancestor of Gram's.

I have recently been doing further research on ancestry.com and have come across additional info on John and his wife (Agnes) Ann. Ann or Agnes Yeomans, b. 1590, Salisbury, England; d. August 15, 1682, Newbury, Mass., along with husband John Wheeler, is listed in the ancestry of Frances Folsom Cleveland, wife of President Grover Cleveland, 22nd and 24th president of the U.S. She and John are also ancestors of U.S. Presidents Herbert Hoover, James Garfield, George H. W. and George W. Bush, and Gerald Ford.

The family line leading up to Aaron Wheeler follows:

John Wheeler and his wife Ann came from England to America on the ship, Mary and John, in 1634. They settled in Salisbury, Massachusetts. Later on they moved to Hampton, Mass. He died in 1670 at Newbury, Mass.
John and Ann Wheeler had a son named Henry who married Abigail Allen. They had a son named James Wheeler born in 1673. James married Grizel Squire, born May 4, 1678. She was a daughter of Philip Squire, a brewer of Boston, Mass. James and Grizel had a son named Phillip Wheeler (born 1698, died 1765). Phillip married Martha Salisbury. Phillip was in the Militia during the Colonial period and was known as Col. Phillip Wheeler.
They had a son which they named Aaron Wheeler. (born 1722, died in 1800).In 1745, Aaron was married to Hopstell Daggett. He was later kown as Rev. Aaron Wheeler, Sr. Rev. Aaron Wheeler, Sr. was a private in Capt Dryer's Co of Col. Thomas Carpenter's Regiment for service on the alarm. On Dec. 8, 1776, the regiment marched from Rehoboth, Mass to Bisol, Rhode Island. He enlisted Dec. 8, 1776 and was discharged Dec. 24, 1776, serving 16 days. He enlisted in Col. Wilbeens Regiment on Sept. 29, 1777 and was discharged Oct. 30, 1777, serving one month at Triverton, Rhode Island. Rev. Aaron Wheeler and Hopstell Daggett Wheeler had a son, Aaron Wheeler, Jr. (born 1752, died 1829). Aaron Wheeler, Jr. married Mary Knapp (born 1750, died1791) in 1772. Aaron Wheeler, Jr. was a private in Capt. Limeon Coles Company, Col. Thomas Carpenter's Regiment. He served as private three different times. He served as Lieutenant in Captain Bliss's Co. from April to November. Aaron Wheeler, Jr and Mary Knapp Wheeler had a son named John Wheeler, born in 1789 in New York State. He died in in 1879 at Steuben, Ohio. His wife was Mary Franklin who was born in Suansee, Mass in 1789, died in 1848. Family tradition says she was the niece of Benjamin Franklin. John was a preacher and was known as Rev. John Wheeler. They married in 1809. He was the first to leave Mass. He went to New York State, and that was where he met and married Mary. His second wife, was Hulden Gregory (born 1792, died 1871). In 1818, Rev. John Wheeler came from Richmond, Ontario County, New York, to Greenfield Township, Huron County, Ohio. They had a family of 6 sons and 1 daughter. The daughter was a registered physician. One of their sons, Aaron, was born Dec. 3rd 1815.

Hope you enjoy and please feel free to update as needed. Some information I did not have. And some information I have, but have not yet entered. And of course, sometimes I have made typographic errors.
