Asalam Alaikum Wa Rahma-t-ullah Wa Barakatu

Dear Family Members, 

I hope you enjoy this family tree as much as I have enjoyed putting it together. This whole  journey took about 9 months to complete & it is no way near finished. The whole thing started  when my 5 year old asked me where she was from, is she Zanzibari, Comorian, French or Emirati?

I was also very sad that my kids didn't get to meet their great-grand parents or their maternal  grand-father. There are so many memories that need to be passed on. I have seen Mum spend many  days entertaining the girls with stories of her childhood. In fact she is the only person that  I know who still remembers people, stories, & songs from the past, so I thought you know what -  this needs to be recorded, for the future generation. Especially since a lot of us did not even  grow up in the "mother-land". And so the journey began.

It was interesting, exciting, informative, & so much more. I got to know family members both  dead & alive. I got to meet & speak with family I didn't even know before this started. We are  an interesting bunch, over 500 people spread across all continents (except Antarctica & South  America but if there is someone there pls let me know)!! married to different nationalities,  adopted different languages & cultures but at the end of the day we are all Abubakars. - And  that is what makes us all so fascinating. I feel it is very important to know where we come  from to appreciate where we are going.

It was hard work putting all of this together, sourcing information, collating and verifying it  all. Certainly none of it would have been possible without all of your help & co-operation so  thank you very much for that.

Of coarse an immeasurable amount of thanks goes to the following people who without their input  and assistance none of this would have happened:

The purpose of this website is to have a tool available for everyone in the family to use and enjoy. It is not a public site and that is why each member needs to have a password. If you do  not have access please email me on thuwaybaa2@yahoo.com or request access on the  sign-in page & I will forward you the details. As I'm sure you realise it is not easy to  maintain something like this full time, so I have decided to update the website every 6 months, however if you have access you are able to contribute to the website. That was Usama’s idea -  thanks Usama it is brilliant.

On that note I do encourage you all to participate & contribute anything you would like to  share as well as to use this tool positively to benefit all. If there are any mistakes I  do apologise, please let me know and I will correct them immediately.
