About  LOWERY FAMILY & ALLIED ANCESTRY
Lowry Coat of Arms, Virtus Semper Viridis
                           Virtue is Always Flourishing
Motto: Repulluat, meaning, It Buds Afresh

I began my ancestrial journey in 1990, an adventure that has enriched my life, full of colorful personalities and stories. In the beginning my father Earl Lowery was supportive and interested in what I might learn and laughingly joked about horse thieves and other characters that may turn up not knowing how his words would come back to haunt him. Sure enough his grand-father, John W Lowery, aka 'Bad John Lowery' was quite a rare bird. This adventure has been blessed with learning of new family, and meeting some in person and renewing old kinships along the way.

So many helpful and wonderful people have shared information and encouraged me when I would hit the proverbial 'brick wall' I will be forever thankful, especially Evelyn Graham 1921-2002 A Logan Co KY Native, who voluntered and one of the founders of the Logan Co KY Archives. Evelyn gave her time of many hours and postage sending me packages, before our computer age. She is the angel responsible for the beginning of our BROTHERS ancestry. Her reserearch gave me a gold mine of information that is priceless. Even though, Evelyn has passed away her generosity and memory lives on.I am always hungry to learn more of my lineage, to see what 'treasure' is around the corner.

Our Lowry/ Lowery clan is Scot-Irish. Family oral hstory as told by John W Lowery, my great-grand father to his children, the Lowery's came straight across the waters to the Carolinas. For the most part our clan are fair in complextion, blonde and red haired , blue and green eyes. Grandfather Sam Lowery spoke with a brough and my aunts came imitate his sayings with the same accent. The spelling of the Lowry/Lowery surname has various spellings. The first William Lowry had no 'e' in the spelling. I believe grandfather Sam Lowery signed his name with an 'e' , Lowery, and that is our spelling of LOWERY surname.
